Charleroi Métropole structures

Several bodies manage the organisation of Charleroi Métropole in order to create a true cross-borough strategy on a regional scale which brings together 29 boroughs and a number of stakeholders from all sectors.

The Conférence des bourgmestres de Charleroi Métropole [Conference of the mayors of Charleroi Métropole]

The Conférence des bourgmestres de Charleroi Métropole [Conference of the mayors of Charleroi Métropole]

Created in September 2017, the Conférence des bourgmestres de Charleroi Métropole aims to strengthen the cross-borough dynamic within the Charleroi region to the benefit of its boroughs. Its objective is to improve the quality of life of its residents and to develop the region’s attractiveness.

It became apparent very quickly that interest in such a project was very important, for several reasons: for consolidating links between local decision-makers, for creating a professional exchange network between boroughs, for training and education, for exchanging ideas, for building and using communal tools and thus tending towards a more standardised development for the whole region whilst respecting the principle of local autonomy. The Conférence des bourgmestres de Charleroi Métropole is supported by Wallonia and the Province of Hainaut.

The Comité de développement stratégique [Strategic Development Committee]

The Comité de développement stratégique [Strategic Development Committee]

Created in 2007, the Comité de développement stratégique (CDS) of Greater Charleroi is a tool for exchanging information, thoughts and actions and for promoting the region’s development strategy.

The Comité de développement stratégique is made up of members from the business world, trade unions and local political authorities. Furthermore, local ministers from Greater Charleroi, whether at regional, borough or federal level, are involved in the committee.

Several permanent guests representing our region’s leading institutions complete the committee. The Comité de développement stratégique is supported by Wallonia.
