‘Hautes écoles’ and universities (18+)
Charleroi Métropole offers a wide range of higher level training courses (bachelor’s and master’s) organised by a number of hautes écoles and universities for young adults and adults undertaking continuing education.
Universities
Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB), Université de Mons (UMONS) and Université Catholique de Louvain (UCL) offer a variety of training courses in Charleroi Métropole. For example, courses in humanities and social sciences, management, engineering, computer sciences, business studies, public health, biochemistry, biology, psychology and education, land management and urban development, etc. What’s more, these universities are constantly adding more courses.
A future university campus
The product of a partnership between ULB, UMONS, the Open University, Hainaut Province and the city of Charleroi, a new university campus will be stablished in the university building Zénobe Gramme, at the heart of Charleroi.
Hautes écoles
The higher education full-time and short courses provided in hautes écoles total more than 6,000 students in Charleroi Métropole and offer a variety of subjects, such as nursing, agricultural sciences, communication, human resources, law, electromechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, industrial sciences (engineering), social engineering, social transitions and innovations, foreign trade, accounting, property, buildings management, smart home technology, IT, business informatics, medical biology, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, podiatry, teaching, social work…
The major actors in higher education in Charleroi Métropole are the Haute Ecole Provinciale du Hainaut – Condorcet (HEPH) and the Haute Ecole Louvain in Hainaut (HElha)
